John, and All:

My client wants to sell hand-made craft/art, not perfume. He wants to display picture, short description and price on each item.

Does anyone know which software package is good?

Thanks,

Dennis

Ok software package... .NET , C# , SQL SERVER. I think you should post
this question in the right newsgroup.

Shivprasad Koirala
C# , VB.NET , SQL SERVER , ASP.NET Interview Questions

But this is the perfect news group for this question. Think about it - any
Web-based shopping cart will *most likely* be some ASP.NET animal - even if
it uses a SQL Server database somewhere and C# as the language.

If any redirection is necessary it may be to google this question before
posting here.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...G=Google+Search

Of course that search yields over half a million hits.

So, going to the group for recommendations (i.e., "which of these many many
many carts is recommended [by my peers] in this news group?) might make
sense - unless of course asking this *somewhat* OT question violates some
unwritten laws...

It doesn't even violate the written ones.
This is a good place for your question. Carry on.

btw, you can write your own app, which does that, easily.

You can expand the "Commerce Starter Kit" to cover your needs.
Get it at : http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=8&tabid=47

Check out the basic app online : http://www.asp.net/CommerceStarterKit/default.aspx

If you'd rather buy a ready-made package, there's lots available.

One is Storefront, which runs $69.95/month to start : http://www.drundo.net/storefront/
You can start taking orders in 24 hours.

You can host Storefront with them for $15/month or host it yourself :
http://www.drundo.net/hosting/Hosti...x?id=storefront

Another choice could be cartgenie : http://www.jstreettech.com/
See their online demo at : http://www.cartgenie.com/

Their purchase options are at :
http://www.jstreettech.com/cartgeni...chase%20Options

There's, literally, hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of similar products.

See :

Good luck setting up your online store !
